Lauby Jr claims title during first CDC event of the season

The opening tournament in the return of the CDC went to a familiar face in Tampa, Florida as Danny Lauby took the first title of the weekend on Friday.

Streamed in the latter stages on PDCTV, Lauby saw off another top American in Leonard 'Soldier' Gates in a high quality final 6-2 with a 94 average with Gates himself hitting 91.

Prior to that, he saw off Chris Lim in the Quarter-Finals before defeating Chuck Puleo with Gates himself seeing off Darin Young to reach the final.

It is the first of two treble header weekends which will finish with an Order of Merit winner who will then qualify for the PDC World Darts Championship.

This second weekend is set for September 17-19, with tournaments reserved in Canada on August 13-15 and October 22-24 which will be confirmed in due course.
