Legendary darts commentator Nigel Pearson passes away

Legendary darts commentator, Nigel Pearson has passed away suddenly at the age of 52 on Friday, it has been confirmed.

Since 2006, Pearson worked for Sky Sports. He was active as a commentator and regularly did interviews with players after matches.

As well as in darts, he was well known to fans of speedway and football working for various broadcasters including Eurosport and TalkSport.

Last weekend, Pearson commented on the PDC live stream during the latest Players Championship tournaments in Barnsley and has also lent his voice to the Women’s Series and European Tour. Condolences to his family after this sudden loss.

"We're all deeply saddened to learn that Nigel has passed away and send our sympathies to all who knew him," said PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter.

"Nigel was an extremely popular figure across darts and a range of sports and well-respected throughout the media for his unique style. He'll be missed by us all."
