While
Leonard Gates sealed his 14th
CDC title and a first of the year, it wasn't 'Soulger' who was the main talking point during the latest CDC tournament. It was the legendary
John Part rolling back the years.
Part has continued to play and has attempted Q-School as well as the World Seniors, which had folded before that. But he has combined his continued pursuit of playing with his main role nowadays of commentating and punditry on Sky Sports.
But Part could feasibly return to the big stage at the
US Darts Masters, albeit it will have to be that it is not a flash in the pan for it to happen. He would have to reach at least the semi-finals today and another final if Brayden Hall, who currently leads the rankings on 18 points ahead of Part, makes the Last 16. He is six points ahead, so Part's resurgence may have come at the wrong time.
Part rolls back the years
Part rolled back the years though reaching his first CDC final since 2018 remarkably at the same venue too and his sixth final appearance in CDC play dating back to the circuit's opening season in 2015. He booked his place in the final by seeing off David Cameron 6-3 before producing a commanding 7-3 semi-final win over Glen Richard.
John Part won two world titles with the PDC
Adam Sevada looks to have booked his spot too in the
US Darts Masters despite losing in the Quarter-FInals to Nick Linberg. The top American and top Canadian players not otherwise qualified on the 2026 CDC Points List seal their spots at the US Darts Masters and Sevada is the top ranked American.
But this was the first game he'd lost all year as he had won the other two events so very much a simple task for him to get over the line and claim his MSG spot. There is a further event today on Sunday to decide the final spots for MSG.
