Leicester City stars court criticism after visit to PDC World Darts Championship

Leicester City footballers James Maddison, Hamza Choudhury and Harvey Barnes were at the Alexandra Palace on Saturday night for the PDC World Darts Championship in the VIP area.
But this caused a stir when their attendance was mentioned on social media with football matches being cancelled all over the Premier League do to COVID-19 and injuries and with the Ally Pally hosting this mass event, it can be seen as ideal for spreading of the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
But on the oche, Maddison, Choudhury and Barnes also got their money's worth. They saw two wonderful quarterfinals that went all the way. Peter Wright dealt with Callan Rydz after a deciding set, while Michael Smith was too strong for world champion Gerwyn Price after a deciding set.

- As prize money increases each year and there are now more tournaments then logically breaking the £2 million barrier is going to happen, only thing preventing it is the now deeper strength in depth of the darting field. If you took Taylor’s best two consecutive years and substituted the prize money from now onto the tournaments he won he would have passed the £2 million.Mysstree26-11-2024
