Gian van Veen will make his return to the Alexandra Palace for the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship on Monday, December 23rd. The 22-year-old Dutchman is the 28th seed and will take on the winner of the duel between Ricardo Pietreczko and Zong Xiaochen in his opening match.

Last year, Van Veen surprisingly went out in the opening round after a 3-2 defeat against Man Lok Leung. Van Veen has had a successful year in 2024 though, climbing to 28th place in the world rankings and recently winning the World Youth Championship by beating compatriot Jurjen van der Velde in the final. The Dutchman therefore starts the World Championship full of confidence and will do so with a new walk-on song. He will take the stage at Alexandra Palace with "Loose Wrist," a special darts song created by Marco Schuitmaker, Donny and Russo.

"A few months back, I was approached by Russo if he could make an attendance number for me. At the time I said: fine," Van Veen said to AD.nl. "A few weeks later Russo told me he had enlisted the help of Marco Schuitmaker and Donnie and asked me if I wanted to use it at the World Darts Championship. There's a nice beat in it so I like that."

Normally Van Veen invariably enters the stage to the tones of Astronomia by Vicetone & Tony Igy, but previously indicated he was open to other suggestions. Will this darts song now become his regular walk on song? "I don't know yet," says Van Veen. "It's Dutch so it's hard for English people to sing along. Although there is also a jalala piece in it so I'm sure that will be fine, haha. In January is the TOTO Dutch Darts Masters in the Netherlands so we can do it then anyway. First let's see how the song is going to land."
