Adrian Lewis and Stephen Bunting have tested positive for the Coronavirus. The two Englishmen have to self-isolate immediately and cannot participate in the World Grand Prix this week.
All players participating in the World Grand Prix had to undergo a Covid-19 test after their arrival on Monday. Bunting and Lewis both tested positive ahead of entry to the created bubble at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
The PDC has called up Simon Whitlock and Jeffrey de Zwaan as replacements. They are the two highest ranked players in the world rankings who had not qualified for the double-in double-out event. If they pass the corona test, they can participate in the tournament on Wednesday.
Lewis should have played against Chris Dobey on Tuesday evening. That game has been moved to Wednesday evening, while the place of Jackpot is taken by Whitlock. De Zwaan will face Jamie Hughes on Wednesday.
That also means that seven games will be played on Tuesday and nine on Wednesday. The first match will commence a little later on Tuesday evening, at 6:30 PM.
