Beau Greaves became the first woman ever to win a match on the PDC European Tour on Friday night, beating Daryl Gurney 6-4 in the opening round of the 2026 Czech Darts Open in Prague. Keane Barry also knocked out Rob Cross, while Dirk van Duijvenbode suffered a 6-2 defeat to Mario Vandenbogaerde. Martin Schindler, Damon Heta, Luke Woodhouse, Krzysztof Ratajski and Jeffrey de Graaf completed the evening’s list of winners as the first round came to a close.

Greaves’ historic victory came in a match that repeatedly swung between the two players. Gurney moved 3-1 ahead after punishing a missed double 12 with a 144 checkout, but Greaves responded immediately.

Four perfect darts started the fifth leg before she took out 47 on double 16 for the break back. She levelled at 3-3 and then opened the seventh leg against the throw with a 180 before checking 87 in two darts on double 18 to move ahead for the first time.

Three missed darts for 5-3 allowed Gurney to draw level, but Greaves answered again with a 77 checkout to break for 5-4. She completed the 6-4 victory one leg later, averaging 93.54 compared to Gurney’s 89.54. Luke Humphries now awaits Greaves in Saturday’s second round.

Cross also exited on Friday night as Barry secured a 6-4 victory. The opening six legs all went with throw before the Irishman produced the decisive break with a 114 checkout to lead 4-3.

Barry consolidated to move 5-3 ahead before missing match darts at double 20 and double 10, allowing Cross to pull one leg back. The former world champion could not force a decider, however, as Barry sealed his place in round two with an 89.73 average.

Woodhouse produced the strongest statistical performance of the session, averaging 104.30 in a 6-4 win over Connor Scutt despite trailing 4-2.

Scutt had taken out 126 on the bull and also produced an 11-darter, but Woodhouse transformed the match late on. A 180 pressured the Scutt throw in leg eight before an 82 checkout completed an 11-darter to make it 4-4. A 56 finish then put Woodhouse in front and double 16 completed a run of four consecutive legs to finish the comeback.

Martin Schindler beat Rob Owen 6-4 despite the Welshman recording the higher average. Schindler broke immediately and followed it with a two-dart 90 checkout for a 2-0 lead. Owen remained close throughout and averaged 95.75 to Schindler’s 89.50, but several key opportunities went the German’s way.

Owen opened the tenth leg with a 180 as he attempted to force a decider, but Schindler reached a finish first and took out 68 on double two with his final dart in hand.

Van Duijvenbode, by contrast, never found anything close to his usual scoring level in a 6-2 defeat to Vandenbogaerde. The Dutchman averaged only 77.51, while the Belgian won despite recording just 80.70.

Van Duijvenbode took the opening leg before losing five in succession. A 180 followed by a two-dart 76 checkout briefly reduced the deficit to 5-2, but Vandenbogaerde closed out the victory in the following leg.

Damon Heta ended Karel Sedlacek’s run with a 6-4 victory in front of the Czech crowd. Heta led 2-0 before Sedlacek hit back with finishes of 62 and 72, later adding a 96 checkout to draw level at 3-3.

Heta missed the bull for a 170 at 4-3, but Sedlacek then failed to take out 76 and the Australian regained the lead. After Sedlacek levelled once more, Heta moved 5-4 ahead and began the tenth leg with six perfect darts. The nine-darter disappeared, but a 76 finish secured the match and sent Heta into round two with a 94.56 average.

Earlier, Ratajski beat Adam Gawlas 6-2, ending the Czech qualifier’s hopes despite a 116 checkout from Gawlas to level the match at 1-1. Ratajski pulled away from there and finished the victory with an 86 checkout on the bull.

The final match of the session went to De Graaf, who defeated Niels Zonneveld 6-3 despite being outscored on the averages. Zonneveld averaged 96.84 to De Graaf’s 94.21, but repeatedly missed opportunities on the doubles.

De Graaf moved 5-2 ahead before Zonneveld briefly stayed alive and then opened the ninth leg with four perfect darts. Three missed darts to extend the contest followed, allowing De Graaf to step in on double eight and complete the 6-3 victory.
