The second Tour Card Holder Qualifier of the day saw the action
focused on the Swiss Darts Trophy set to take place from October 9-11. Beau
Greaves, Michael Smith and Peter Wright were looking to confirm their places on
the European Tour event.

10 spots were available for the Tour Card holders present
with a couple of former world champions showing their worth. Michael Smith was one of them in a dramatic ending where he managed to squeeze past Cor Dekker 6-5 in a thrilling finale. It will be the first time he appears on the European Tour since the Austrian Darts Open back in May.
Today was a very successful day for Raymond van Barneveld
who made it consecutive European Tour events he will attend after qualifying
for the Flanders Darts Trophy earlier today. He backed it up with a 6-5 win
over David Sharp to book his spot in Basel.
Cristo Reyes, Jeffrey de Graaf and Bradley Brooks were also
able to go the whole day unbeaten. ‘The Spartan’ had no trouble in thrashing Robert
Owen 6-0 in the final match with de Graaf and Brooks having a tougher time of
it. Karel Sedlacek failed to join this exclusive group after a defeat at the
final stage against Mensur Suljovic.
The other names to qualify include Sietse Lap, Tom Bissell,
Mario Vandenbogaerde and Maik Kuivenhoven.
Greaves cannot continue brilliant form as Wright fall short again
Greaves was not able to keep her winning
streak up. Three European Tour’s in a row she had successfully made it into,
but her journey to Basel ended at the first hurdle in the last 160 against Owen
Bates.

Mike De Decker had not competed earlier for a place in his
home event and would only play one match in total after losing 6-3 to Brooks.
Fellow Belgian Kim Huybrechts also would lose at the last 80.
It will be another Euro Tour event without Peter Wright. The
two-time world champion’s struggles continued with Rhys Griffin pipping him in
a last-leg decider.

Luke Humphries is set to headline the field in Switzerland.
He takes the number one seeding with Luke Littler not featuring. Reigning champion
Stephen Bunting is among the challengers with Gian van Veen, Jonny Clayton,
James Wade, Michael van Gerwen, Josh Rock, Gerwyn Price, Gary Anderson and
Nathan Aspinall all set to make the trip with glory on their minds.

- I just think Aspinall loves the razzmatazz rather than real darts, goes on about his walk on and the premier league, loves exhibitions and proposed a 'royal rumble' and i'm not sure if it was him that suggested a Ryder Cup style tournament? I think they do need to look at how the ranking tournaments are treated, the UK Open, Euro Championships, Players' Championship all shoe-horned into four or so days rather than lasting all week and giving more players a chance to be on the big stage.Baphomet03-08-2026
