Noa-Lynn van Leuven made history at the
Alexandra Palace this December. The 28-year-old Dutchwoman was the first trans player to ever compete at the PDC's World Darts Championship. She couldnt mark the occasion with victory though, losing out 3-1 to her compatriot Kevin Doets in the opening round.
Van Leuven has been in the spotlight for quite some time. Not only did she win a tournaments on the PDC Challenge Tour and the PDC Women's Series in 2024, she was also in the news because her teammates Anca Zijlstra and Aileen de Graaf on the Dutch women's national team no longer wanted to play with her. Previously, women's darts icon
Deta Hedman had also refused to play against Van Leuven at a WDF tournament.
But it goes beyond that, Van Leuven is also constantly dealing with threats on social media. "Thank God you're home. You're a man and should qualify with male players," Van Leuven shares of the hateful messages on his Instagram Stories. "You're a lunatic."

"You're a dude! What the fuck," is read in one comment. Someone else writes: "Die, piece-of-shit case!"
But it sometimes goes far beyond that even. "You are a man. You will never become a woman, stop insulting our real women. Look up the word suicide in the dictionary and follow the instructions," writes one woman.
