Lowe sees off impressive debutant Marsh, Harrysson sets up tie with Wade after seeing off Van de Pas

The action has began at the International Darts Open in Riesa with Jason Lowe through to the second round after seeing off impressive debutant, Scott Marsh.

Marsh came to the foray during the MODUS Icons of Darts League and qualified last week through the Associate Member Qualifier.

He ended up missing four match darts and Lowe punished him last dart in hand with an 89 checkout to move through.

Statistics wise, the high standard between the pair was evident with Marsh hitting a 94 average and Lowe a 97. The latter hit three ton plus checkouts including a high of 124 while it was 118 for Marsh in an ultra competitive start to proceedings.

Benito van de Pas has previous experience reaching the final in Riesa but he won't go any further than the first round as Andreas Harrysson who has previous big stage experience at the BDO World Championship accounted for him.

Nicknamed 'Dirty Harrysson', the Swede completed a 6-3 victory over the Dutchman and a tie with James Wade awaits next up.

He dominated the opening foray going 5-2 up with a double break but despite Van de Pas producing some good darts towards the end, he missed darts to hold his throw and Harrysson punished with a 74 checkout to move through.
