While not even at his sublime best, Luke Humphries has eased through the final on Night One of Premier League Darts action in Belfast. He saw off Chris Dobey 6-1 in the final to lead the table and bank £10,000 in the process.
Humphries saw off Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen en route to glory and in particular, his double 10 was like a magnet in the final. He averaged 95 in seeing off 'Hollywood' with two 180's, a high checkout of 128 and 6/7 on the outer ring pivotally.
That was the difference with Dobey on 1/4 from the opportunities he was given. It was still a satisfactory night though from Dobey who again like the last Premier League Darts campaign has proven doubters wrong already. Some saw his selection as dubious both times he has been picked but even in defeat, he performs and despite losing heavily tonight he takes a good points haul from Belfast. The lauded player Luke Littler sits bottom after an early loss in truly incredible style against Michael van Gerwen.

Amid fears about a draft on stage, Humphries said what draft as he hit a 128 checkout using two treble 18's and double 10 for the lead. Dobey looked at 89 to level up but slipped into single five going for the 20 for the bull.
Humphries hit a 100 checkout on double 10 clinically to go 2-0 up. Dobey couldn't make a dent in 148 for 2-1 and Humphries hit double 20 straight away for 3-0.
Humphries pressured with a 180 as Dobey looked at 52 and he missed two darts and 'Cool Hand Luke' swooped at double 14 for 4-0.
Dobey missed 76 for a leg on the board again and Humphries like clockwork hit treble 20, double 10 for 100 to go 5-0 up. it was defiance from Dobey hitting 126 on the bull for 5-1 down. But Humphries finally got over the line to stave off any hope of a revival. He follows his Winmau World Masters triumph with Night One glory.
