Luke Humphries and
Michael Smith have moved to the brink of qualification for the knockout stage of the
Grand Slam of Darts as the opening weekend of action concludes in Wolverhampton.
Humphries ended the night by hammering Gary Anderson 5-1 in a match that on paper between the two opening victors could've delivered a really darting spectacle.

This featured a 100.8 average, three 180's and 56% on the doubles as Humphries won at a canter. A tournament in which Michael Smith won last year which really kick started a superb end to the season, he will look to do the same albeit with the World Grand Prix already in his locker.
Smith on the other hand will look to retain and had to come through an interesting tie with Krzysztof Ratajski. At times 'The Polish Eagle' soared but despite hitting a 101 average compared to just 89 from Smith, it was 'Bully Boy' who won 5-4.
Ratajski had a real flourish to begin the tie and also break the throw as he hit a 170 checkout to go 3-2 up. But Smith himself albeit a lesser flourish hit a 106 checkout to seal the win with Ratajski ready and waiting after not being able to pin 170 again.
