Luke Humphries record when reaching the semi-final stages of major events is nothing short of incredible. In his
most recent 19 last-four appearances at major level, 'Cool Hand Luke' has won all of them with the most recent coming against James Wade in the 2026 World Grand Prix.
Humphries is in a fourth consecutive
World Grand Prix final. The first, coming back in 2023, was the catalyst that boosted Humphries into the elite. He defeated Joe Cullen 4-0 in that semi-final, beginning this incredible streak of wins in this stage of the tournament.
He took down Wade in the Grand Slam of Darts before averages of 106.26 and 108.74 saw off Ryan Joyce and Scott Williams en route to the Players Championship Finals and PDC World Darts Championship title triumphs.
In 2024, he reached seven major finals, including the World Championship. He won all of them but could not keep up his consistent final performances.
He only won a single major title in 2025 at the Winmau World Masters. Aside from the World Cup of Darts a year later alongside Luke Littler, he has come a cropper in a number of the subsequent final appearances to his arch nemesis.

Semi-final form immaculate, now about sealing silverware
The semi-finals results are remarkable and very consistent. Not just the fact he is winning them all, but the performances put in. He averaged over a ton in almost half of them. Aside from the Premier League Darts 2026 semi-final against Jonny Clayton, the scoreline heavily favours the Englishman.
While he did win the World Cup this year, his last five major finals have ended in defeat. Four of which came against Littler, with Gian van Veen defeating him at the European Championship. He will have a chance to end this rot against Gerwyn Price in the final of the 2026 World Grand Prix.
