World number one Luke Humphries crowned himself the winner Friday night at Face Off 2024, the annual exhibition tournament in Derby hosted by MODUS Darts and MDA Events.
The field of participants consisted of eight players in total, four of whom were professionals and four amateur darters. Luke Humphries, Nathan Aspinall, Adrian Lewis and Jonny Clayton were the established names and they all managed to win from one of the amateur darters in the first round, although Aspinall and Lewis only narrowly managed to do so with both winning 3-2.
The four professionals all advanced to the semi-finals of the demonstration tournament, although the matches did not immediately become more exciting. Humphries won his semi-final 3-0 against Nathan Aspinall, while two-time world champion Lewis showed he can still throw a good dart and won 3-0 against Clayton. The final between Humphries and Lewis was a 3-1 victory for the reigning world champion.
