Luke Littler has lashed out fiercely as vandals who vandalized his car during a demonstration. The 18-year-old world champion attended a darts event in Norwich this weekend, where he was on stage with such luminaries as Raymond van Barneveld and Phil Taylor.
Littler won the tournament at MODUS Sports after a final against his good friend and formidable opponent Luke Humphries. Still, his successful evening took on a bitter aftertaste when he discovered afterwards that the rear window of his van had been smashed. On social media, he shared a photo of the damage, captioning it, "Just trying to do an exhibition in Norwich and then this happens.... absolute scum of the earth."
MODUS Sports organizes events with both active and former top players outside the official PDC circuit. During the two-day event at Epic Studios, Littler was meeting and greeting with fans when the incident occurred.
Despite the incident, the young darter is looking ahead to his next challenge: the World Cup of Darts in Germany. From June 12 to 15, he will team with Humphries to represent England in Frankfurt. Expectations are high.
Humphries was previously excited about forming a duo with Littler. “I feel like the fans are going to enjoy watching us both play together," said Humphries to Weekly Dartscast.
“The two best players in the world, a lot of pressure is going to be on our shoulders. I think everybody is expecting us to win it and no one’s going to touch us.”
The two superstars met recently in the Premier League, where Littler beat his rival 6-3 with an impressive average of 116. In that match, no fewer than 14 times the maximum score of 180 were thrown.
England is the defending champion at the World Cup of Darts after Humphries teamed up with Michael Smith to take the title last year. This year, the new Littler-Humphries duo will try to repeat that success.
