Luke Littler early favourite to become BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2024

The BBC 'Sports Personality of the Year' is a ceremony that awards each year the most outstanding British athlete of the past year.

The next vote will not take place until mid-December, yet there is one person currently standing out above the rest in the betting shops. Darts' own, Luke Littler is listed 5 to 1. Three candidates are behind Littler at 8/1, those are footballer Harry Kane, snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan and one of the greatest cyclists of all time, Mark Cavendish.
Spokesman for gambling firm William Hill, Lee Phelps, said, “For those of you who thought the PDC World Championships was a fluke for Luke ‘the Nuke’, he’s since reached two finals against behemoth of the sport Michael Van Gerwen, and shows no signs of stopping," in quotes collected by Oche180.
“After narrowly losing out this time against Van Gerwen in the Netherlands, having beaten him in Bahrain, Luke Littler’s odds have been slashed to 5/1 from 8/1 to win this year’s Sports Personality of the Year," adds Phelps.

I think if he stuck around the BDO he definitely would have been World Champion, should have won in 2014, he never really showed any of his talent in the PDC. I remembered he worked in a bank or in finance and maybe that was his priority, he was also a fan and interested in magic. Definitely should have achieved much more in darts than he did. - This is exactly what I mean,littler survives the 1st round,I think you'll find a lot of other players did. Can you just report on the real sport,and not just 1 person. I like Luke,but this is getting boring now,as Kevin painter once said to Taylor!! The sport is about every player,not 1 who everyone seems to have put the sport on the map.,which he hasn't,he's just got in when the money is massive.
