Luke Littler is first into the semi-finals of the
World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam after surging past
Chris Dobey 10-7 after a closely fought tie at the AFAS Live.
Littler is top seed this weekend and will be aiming to add another major title to his haul. He averaged nearly 103 in the end with 10 180's. This was despite missing 17 darts at the outer ring. Albeit Dobey also struggled when it mattered most on doubles allowing Littler to escape.
Dobey initially hit the front in the tie. In the first seven minutes, Dobey hit three 180's and was averaging 100 with Littler unlucky to be behind. He sat at a 105 average narrowly down 3-2.
But he sealed parity with a 138 checkout for 3-3 after the interval and led from there. Dobey threatened a nine-dart finish with seven perfect darts as he closed the gap back to one at 5-4. But the epic standard continued.
They headed off for the second interval with Littler still having his nose in front. He'd hit six maximums with the same for Dobey as he hit double 20 to make it 7-5.
Albeit missed doubles started to blight Littler and hand Dobey a potential route back. He missed five in all as Dobey went back within two at 8-6. But he missed a dart at bull and Littler pressured with a 174 and the pressure tolled as Littler went to the brink at 9-7. He was averaging around 105. But that diminished as he ended up missing multiple match darts but with Dobey way back, it mattered not as he got over the line in the end.
Amid all the hullabaloo that surrounds the Humphries v Van Gerwen tie, it is in fact the Littler v Dobey clash taking the early running thus far. A tough act to follow.
