Michael Smith and
Luke Littler have advanced to the last four Night 14 of the 2024
Premier League Darts campaign in Aberdeen. The two Englishmen will meet later this evening in the first semifinal.
Littler settled with his compatriot
Nathan Aspinall. The Asp' missed a chance to keep his own leg in the seventh leg and fell behind. His 17-year-old compatriot broke Aspinall with a 64 finish, after which 'The Nuke' hit a 13-darter to make it 5-3. Aspinall managed to fight his way back to 5-5 after Littler missed four matchdarts in the tenth leg. In the last leg Aspinall had one matchdart from 160, but did not find the tops. Littler then threw out 25 for the win.
Michael Smith kept his chances of reaching the playoffs alive by qualifying for the last four at the expense of
Peter Wright. 'Snakebite' lost 6-4 to 'Bullyboy' in front of his home crowd.
The first four legs of the match all went against the darts. That sequence ended when Wright took the lead with a 10-darter. Both men then held their own legs until 4-4. Then in the ninth leg came Wright's mistake. After five visits, he was only 157. Smith was on 61 after twelve arrows and managed to force a break with a 14-darter. The Englishman then secured victory with a 164 finish.
