Fallon Sherrock has not yet withdrawn from the WDF World Championship, contrary to what Jacques Nieuwlaat suggested during his podcast Double Trouble.
The Dutch commentator of RTL 7 said Sherrock won't compete in the inaugural edition of the WDF World Championship in January because the Queen of the Palace would prefer a gala evening in Germany, where 'she can collect a lot of money'.
Enquiries with Sherrock's management, reveal that Nieuwlaat's statements are incorrect. ''We would like to clarify an incorrect statement which was made by a podcast where the host said that Fallon Sherrock was withdrawing from the WDF Women’s World Championship to play in a commercial event in Germany. This was totally incorrect, to date Fallon has made no comment on the event as she has NOT received an invitation to the WDF Women’s World Championship as of today. Why the podcast host decided to make false comments on the matter we do not know'', a spokesman from Sherrock told Dartsnieuws.com.
Sherrock's spokesman also indicated that it has yet to be decided whether Sherrock will participate in the WDF World Championship once she receives an invite.
''There are both legal and logistical issues, like the PDC and WDF World Championship overlapping and the run-up to Q-School, which need to be looked into before any decision can be made on acceptance or not. We would hope the podcast host checks his facts in future before causing unnessasary and unneeded comments'', the spokesman added.
Shouldnt be ALLOWED in both ANYWAY!!! Make a choice. You chose to play in the mens, thats it! You should NOT be allowed to play in the mens AND woman - rediculous situation. Are men allowed to enter the Womans?? NO!! Double standards
Where in The PDC does it say men. Also Rediculous, is this a colour of red paint that doesn't look very good.
So your saying woman can have their own little tournaments, but the historical male version is just "open to all"? Up yours idiot. (p.s you are very aptly named!)
Only the BDO and it would appear (now) the WDF have seperate gender tournaments, the exception being that the PDC did run one edition Ladies World Championship in 2010. Barry Hearn always said that if your good enough you can enter which in the PDC is via a Tour card. Lisa Ashton is the only Woman currently in the 128 tour card field. No PDC tournament has ever been exclusively limited to men only.
