Mardle weighs in on late Sherrock World Championship invite: "I don't like the way the PDC just kind of bent the rules"

Wayne Mardle went in depth on the Fallon Sherrock situation after the Queen of the Palace was given a late invite to the PDC World Darts Championship despite not qualifying initially for the showpiece tournament.
Mardle admitted that he isn't a fan of the way the PDC bent the rules in order to get Sherrock in and believes that it more falls down to the issue of the player receiving hate and criticism for accepting an invite and that making a decision like this stokes it even more.

"I'm not a fan, I don't like the way the PDC just kind of bent the rules and changed the rules to get Fallon Sherrock in but I want to put this out there. This is not Fallon's fault, I feel for Fallon here as she was getting a lot of hatred and jealousy thrown her way before this," he said to Online Darts.
"They've now put her in an awkward position. It's a privileged position let's not get that mixed up where she will take a cut of the prize money that's well over a million pounds now. She won the Women's World Matchplay, if the PDC would've said then there's not a problem. They've just left it so late."

He was also an extremely overrated darts player. However, he's learned he can make more being a lousy commentator and all round wankshaft than being a mediocre darts player. I do agree though about the posts being moved to allow Sherrock to qualify for the world's but I commented on this at the time. Not like the idiot Mardle who has taken a good few weeks to comment.
Perfectly said Mr Moffat. To be honest the all the commentators and presenters on the SKY gravy train are inept and a waste of space who have nothing worth saying, except the excellent John Part, I think Corrine is very good too and Laura Turner as well. Why don’t SKY utilise Matthew Edgar ?. The ITV4 line up is exceptional, Chris Mason, Alan and Jackie are a small but fabulous lineup. Mardull is a clown and I don’t actually know anyone that enjoys his presence on TV or anywhere, he pretends to be a jokey and cheery but he is miserable and arrogant who achieved not very much if anything.
I always find Mark Webster good to listen to and I like the passion Adam Smith brings. If I'm honest the only one I can't stand who has me pressing the mute button is Squarehead Mardle. If he comes on then the mute is in action.
I tell a lie - I can't be done with Martin Adams full stop so he gets the mute. Devon Peterson was dreadful when he commentated. I do like Colin Lloyd and Keith Deller and would like to hear them more, as I would Peter Manley who did a few events and then we heard no more of...

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025
