Michael Smith beats Michael van Gerwen in final and wins George Pallett Trophy

Michael Smith crowned himself winner Friday night at a demonstration tournament in Leicester, England. A day after winning the last weekly Premier League Darts title, 'Bullyboy' won 6-5 over Michael van Gerwen.

As a reward for winning this exhibition match, Smith was presented with the George Pallett Trophy. The cup is named after the late George Pallett, a frequent guest at the events of MDA Events, the organizer of the exhibition between Smith and Van Gerwen.

The two former world champions made it an exciting match. A deciding leg was needed to declare a winner and via a 130 finish the victory went 6-5 to 'Bully Boy'.

There was also an exhibition match between Nathan Aspinall and Daryl Gurney. This match also went over the full eleven legs. Aspinall eventually emerged victorious 6-5. A remarkable detail is that both players decided to change darts prior to the last leg. Aspinall thus won the match with Gurney's arrows.

There were also two more mini matches in Leicester. Chris Wickenden managed a 2-0 win over Martin Adams, while Andy Courtney was too strong for Ricky Evans 2-0.
