Michael Smith is into the Last 16 of the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship after taking out William O'Connor in a 4-2 win as the third round continues at the Alexandra Palace.
Smith produced 10 180's and a 97.5 average over a longer format than his statement win last time out but it is still top quality from 'Bully Boy'.
It was a dream start for O'Connor as he shunned a 132 checkout from Smith to seal the opening set 3-1 but missing two darts for the set in leg four saw Smith force a decider with a 64 finish before then converting double five to make it 1-1 in sets.
Smith took a third consecutive set including a brilliant 124 as he looked to move towards the brink at 3-1 up but O'Connor dug deep and made it 3-2 in sets after Smith had missed a match dart.
'Bully Boy' didn't make the same mistake again though taking it in a decider to move through.
