We get a double Dutch final this Sunday night at the 2024
Hungarian Darts Trophy.
Michael van Gerwen has qualified for the final, joining Gian van Veen, who did so earlier in the evening.
In the last four, Van Gerwen recorded a resounding 7-3 victory over Van Gerwen, who was able to produce excellent statistics. He reached an average of 107.87 and a finishing percentage of 63.6 percent.
Van Gerwen got off to a great start in the final with a 152 finish in the first leg. The 35-year-old from the Netherlands then ran out to a 4-0 lead with a 14-darter, 13-darter and an 86 finish. Van Gerwen then missed three chances to make it 5-0 before Smith finally got on the scoreboard via double 4. The difference had already been made, however, and through a 12-darter and a 13-darter, Van Gerwen gained a 6-3 lead moments later. He then started the tenth leg with a 180, and pulled out the victory with a 14-darter.
It is the third time in Euro Tour history that two Dutchmen will face each other in the final. Van Gerwen was also involved in the previous two Dutch Euro Tour finals. Moreover, he also won them both. He defeated Jelle Klaasen in the final of the German Darts Masters in 2017, and in 2022 Van Gerwen took the title at the Austrian Darts Open at the expense of Danny Noppert.
