Michael van Gerwen showed this weekend why he still belongs to the absolute world top in darts. The 36-year-old Dutchman defeated Luke Littler 11-7 in the final of the 2025 World Series of Darts Finals.
With no fewer than 25 scores of 180, he managed to further extend his lead in the all-time World Series of Darts Finals rankings. 'Mighty Mike did not seem to suffer from any pressure and once again showed his unparalleled precision and power on the board. Van Gerwen has already thrown a total of 178 180s in the World Series of Darts Finals, doing well ahead of Peter Wright (125) and Gerwyn Price (86).
Who also impressed again this weekend was Luke Littler. Despite this being only his second participation in this prestigious tournament, Littler already managed to firmly establish himself at the top of 180 scores. With his recent performance, he is already sixth in the standings, just a fraction behind the more experienced Dave Chisnall, who has played the tournament 10 times. Littler currently sits on 66 180-scores.

Signal to competition

Van Gerwen not only strengthened his leading position in the World Series of Darts Finals (he won the tournament for the sixth time already), but also sent a clear signal to his competitors: he is ready for the challenges ahead and will not let himself be passed by easily. Littler, on the other hand, proves that age and experience are not always decisive; his rapid rise shows that new talents in the darts world are reaching the top faster and faster.
With the season still in full swing, it promises to be an exciting year. Fans can look forward to more impressive performances from Van Gerwen, while Littler will undoubtedly try to continue his upward trend. The confrontations between the two promise to be a fixture of PDC majors in the upcoming years.
