Michael van Gerwen has impressively advanced to the last 16 of the
Austrian Darts Open this Saturday night at the expense of Jeffrey de Zwaan. The Dutchman left his compatriot completely defenseless with 6-1 triumph.
With two 13-darters and an 88 finish, Van Gerwen quickly rushed into a 4-0 lead before De Zwaan finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth leg. There was no epic comeback however, as Van Gerwen then decided the match 6-1 via a 56 finish and an 18-darter.
Elsewhere,
Josh Rock dealt with Dimitri van den Bergh in a thriller. The Belgian missed three match darts in the last leg before the win went to Rock 6-5.
Peter Wright also managed to reach the last sixteen. Snakebite' was ahead 4-1 against Danny Lauby, but won 6-5.
