Wessel Nijman has won a tournament on the PDC Development Tour for the third time. He was the best at the sixth tournament of this season on Friday.
Nijman won his previous Development Tour titles in 2018 and 2020. He then served a suspension of more than two years for involvement in a match-fixing scandal during an online darts tournament.
He returned to the circuit early this year, and Nijman immediately impressed by winning an NDB ranking tournament. During the first weekend of the PDC Development Tour, he also had good results, but did not reach the finals.
A final place did come at the start of the second Development Tour weekend. He beat the likes of Rusty-Jake Rodriguez (4-1), Luke Littler (5-3) and Owen Roelofs (5-4) to reach the final. In the final match, Nijman was then 5-3 too strong for Nathan Girvan.
