Jonny Clayton has been the in-form man in darts at times so far in 2021 and he has brought that to the Premier League in his debut campaign.
Clayton wowed against Jose de Sousa winning 7-3 including hitting a stunning nine-dart finish, the first of the tournament averaging 105.2 also with 7/9 on the doubles.
This also saw him defy a 108 average from De Sousa in the process as he moves to third in the table. Sheer class from 'The Ferret'.
De Sousa missed the opportunity to open up with a hold and Clayton hit a 61 checkout on double 18 for a break.
'The Special One' though edged in front from there breaking back and going 2-1 up. The high standard was evident early on and Clayton levelled at 2-2 with a 13-darter.
Before pouncing after De Sousa busted 70, Clayton hit 48 on double eight to break and regain the lead and he was two in front from there with De Sousa missing the bull for a 126 checkout to level and 'The Ferret' pinned an 82 checkout to move two legs ahead.
An 11-darter saw De Sousa still in the hunt at 4-3 down but a catalyst and a magic moment in the form of a nine-darter started a brilliant run for Clayton.
He went 5-3 up and then followed it up with an 11-darter to wrap up at least a point before concluding the tie 7-3.
