Gerwyn Price will face either Michael van Gerwen or Dimitri van den Bergh in the final of the
World Matchplay after an incredible display featuring a nine-dart finish to knock out Danny Noppert.
Price claimed it 17-11 to end the run of the UK Open champion with a 102.41 average, 13 180's and 44.4% on the doubles en route as he looks to seal the Phil Taylor Trophy for the first time.
Noppert drew first blood in the tie taking out 60 to break and go 2-1 up. But back-to-back legs from Price saw him lead at the interval and take the early impetus at 3-2.
This continued after the break with a 107 checkout en route to making it 6-3. Noppert continued to hold and keep on 'The Iceman's coattails but the nine-dart finish to break and make it 9-5 stopped it in its tracks.
He stormed into a 10-5 lead from there going into the next break. Noppert on return showed some resolve sealing three legs on the spin including a 104 checkout to make it 11-8.
But again Price extended his lead with Noppert squandering four darts at double which allowed 'The Iceman' to take a 12-8 lead. Another break was sealed at 14-8 as he headed towards the finish.
Noppert again stopped the rot with a 117 checkout at 15-9 and went into double figures himself with a break to make it 15-10 with Price missing chances to go one away.
A 120 checkout continued that run of form for Noppert at 15-11 down. He missed the bull for a 132 checkout after Price had missed two darts at 86 for a hold but 'The Iceman' as a result returned to go one away pinning double 16 first time. He hit a 63 checkout to claim it from there.
