Non Tour Card holder Williams after sensational maiden title at Players Championship 17: "I want people to see me and know who I am"

Scott Williams became the first non Tour Card holder to seal a PDC ranking title since Krzysztof Ratajski back in 2018 defeating Nathan Aspinall 8-5 at Players Championship 17.

Williams, a player who has been threatening to reach the latter stages for a while as the top performing Challenge Tour star did so on Wednesday to devastating effect. Speaking afterwards, he discussed his main targets, two of them he is close or has achieved already.

“I’m so pleased, I cannot believe it,” said Williams.

“I am beating players that people see in big TV events every week. That is an unbelievable feeling.

“My main target was to get into the World Championship. I’m also looking good for the Players Championship Finals now. I’m so happy. I want people to see me and know who I am."
