O’Connor and Johnson ease through, Bates shocks Klaasen

The Dutch Darts Championship in Maastricht has begun with wins for William O’Connor, Darren Johnson and Barrie Bates who move through to face the seeds tomorrow.

Johnson begun proceedings with a 6-4 victory over Kevin Munch. It will be Gerwyn Price next for Dynamite and he will hope to improve on the 83 average here.
O’Connor is a European Tour finalist this year and he will have a repeat of that match in round two as he takes on Michael van Gerwen. The Irishman comprehensively came through against debutant Karel Sedlacek.
Finally Bates rolled back the year’s to claim a 6-3 win over Jelle Klaasen to seriously dent his World Grand Prix hopes. ‘Champagne’ hit an 86 average on the way his victory, a first ever on the European Tour.
