Luke Humphries goes in search of a fourth consecutive weekly
Premier League Darts title tonight in Belfast. 'Cool Hand Luke' will take on
Luke Littler in the quarter-finals.
Humphries, however, had a difficult start to the year, a hangover perhaps from winning his world totle, which even earned him some criticism from certain fans on social media. "You need to stop listening to peopleโs opinions because it will drive you insane. Youโll never please everybody," Humphries explains to Phil Lanning. "Iโm really enjoying myself. The start of the season I felt a little bit worn out. It felt really tough for me. Now Iโm enjoying the game and thatโs when Iโm at my best."
For Humphries, this is only the first full year he has been allowed to compete in Premier League Darts. โI feel like I belong here. The last three weeks have been fantastic, my standard has been really high. Iโm not unbeatable but I feel like Iโm at the stage where it takes a big performance to beat me."
"Next week I want to create a record and win four on the trot," continued the 29-year-old Englishman. โA lot of people think Iโve got one foot in the semis. But I donโt think that. I have to keep working hard."
Humphries is therefore brimming with self-confidence. โIโm not arrogant at all. But I feel if I play my A game I feel like thereโs only a couple of people who can test me. Luke Littler and
Michael van Gerwen, they are the two that can push me. Their A level can probably beat me.โ
