PDC Development Tour Order of Merit Update: Beau Greaves sees huge lead cut as Cam Crabtree gains

Beau Greaves has long led the Development Tour Order of Merit this season but with success for others this weekend, the fight to remain top is on going into today's tournaments.

Greaves sits top with £10,525 and added money through reaching the Semi-Finals of Event 12 and the Quarter-Finals of Event 13 but lost in the third round to Florian Preis with a 102 average for the German.

This is despite averaging 95 herself and hitting 96 and 92 in the rounds prior. Cam Crabtree though has done the double this weekend and sits on £8,375. Then it is his good mate Owen Bates who sits on £8,200. Jurjen van der Velde after his title success sits fourth with £5,550. While Jannis Barkhausen who has also had success sits £5,100.

So while Greaves especially with Crabtree and Bates being Tour Card holders anyway won't panic when it comes to the World Championship and Tour Card spots potentially on offer, it goes to show a bit like the Challenge Tour in her case how quickly it can change.

This season has heralded a major change as for once the names of the past who perhaps used the Development Tour as vehicles to keep their Tour Cards or World Championship spots now cannot. Only those outside the top 64 can in fact play which also rules out Gian van Veen, Wessel Nijman among others.

The Development Tour is the youth circuit of the PDC. This tour is open to players ages 16 through 23. Players who turn 24 during the season may continue to compete.

At each Development Tour tournament there is a prize pool of 15,000 pounds to be divided. With the prize money, a ranking is established. At the end of the season, the numbers one and two receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2026 and 2027. The ranking winner also gets to compete in the Grand Slam of Darts.
