PDC European Tour Order of Merit update: Jonny Clayton makes huge leap after Rosmalen title

Jonny Clayton has entered the top-10 of the PDC European Tour Order of Merit after winning the Dutch Darts Championship. 'The Ferret' took the title Sunday night in Rosmalen by dealing with tournament sensation Niko Springer (8-6) in the final.
Clayton had a disappointing Euro Tour season so far. The Welshman started with a quarterfinal at the Belgian Darts Open, but then lost his opening match at five Euro Tours in a row. With this title at the Dutch Darts Championship, Clayton is at once assured of participating in the European Championship.
The top-32 of the European Tour Order of Merit after 14 Euro Tour tournaments will be invited to that tournament. Still leading the list is Martin Schindler, winner of the Austrian Darts Open in Graz. Schindler earned 58,500 pounds in prize money during the first seven Euro Tours of the season.
Ross Smith is the number two with 44,500 pounds, while Nathan Aspinall follows behind with 42,000 pounds. Gary Anderson, Michael van Gerwen and Luke Littler all secured 38,500 pounds. Clayton is now in shared seventh place with £36,000, the same as Stephen Bunting. Ryan Joyce is the number nine with 30,250 pounds, while Dirk van Duijvenbode and Wessel Nijman share the tenth spot with 27,500 pounds.

The worry for the PDC is that as Littler has gone beyond the darts fan base and is the most high profile player in the world there is the risk that he is bigger than the PDC and then others with more clout (government for example) may start telling them to clean up their act.
