The latest Players Championship event in Leicester saw some stunning performances, but who truly set the stage alight with the highest averages of the day? With a field packed full of elite talent, the numbers did not disappoint.
Among the standout statistics was an astonishing three-figure average that soared above the rest. As the competition heated up, one player delivered a masterclass in scoring power, recording the highest average of the tournament. Close behind, another top professional produced a dazzling display despite struggling elsewhere this season, while the eventual champion also cemented his place among the day's best. So, who topped the charts? It was none other than Gary Anderson.
The legendary 'Flying Scotsman’ produced a blistering 111.84 average in his dominant 6-1 victory over old rival James Wade in the last 32. However, Anderson’s campaign ended in the following round, as he fell 6-5 to German number one Martin Schindler.
Stephen Bunting claimed the second-highest average of the event. The 39-year-old, currently enduring a tough Premier League Darts campaign, showed flashes of brilliance with a 111.72 average in his last-16 win over Mike De Decker. Despite that, ‘The Bullet’ was stopped in the quarterfinals by Michael Smith, suffering a 6-1 defeat.
Rounding out the top three was the tournament winner himself, Josh Rock. The young Northern Irishman, who ultimately claimed the title with an 8-4 victory over Cameron Menzies in the final, registered his highest average of the day (110.34) in a commanding 6-1 quarterfinal triumph over the aforementioned Martin Schindler.
With Players Championship 10 in the books, attention now shifts to Wigan, where Tour Card holders compete for spots in European Tour events 5 and 6. Meanwhile, the Players Championship series resumes next week, with events 11 and 12 set to take place in Leicester on Tuesday and Wednesday.

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025

- obviously littler has the potential to surpass everybody simply because nobody has been this good at this age before, but people who think he would be any kind of favourite right now against prime taylor in a big final have short memories. it's obvious that prime taylor wouldn't win as many world titles if he was playing today, but there's also good reason to believe he'd be winning more than anybody else. hell, his statistical profile still stands alone in darts history and he might statistically be even better if he was playing today with better equipment, larger beds, more competition therefore more motivation, etc.colt24-03-2025
