Peter Wright is hoping for Scottish support against Michael van Gerwen: ''Hopefully I can find something special''

Peter Wright is slowly but surely starting to emerge from the deep end. 'Snakebite' has returned to his old trusty gold darts and that choice already paid off this week with a semi-final on the Pro Tour.

Wright is still waiting for a first win in the Premier League Darts, but his 6-4 defeat against Luke Humphries last week was acceptable. ''I felt a lot better in Berlin. I didn’t wear my glasses and I felt more comfortable'', admitted Wright to pdc.tv.

Wright faces a tough challenge in Glasgow, as he will meet Michael van Gerwen. ''He won last week, and in Den Bosch. It will be tough, but hopefully the crowd will get behind me and help me get over the line.”

The two-time world champion is hugely looking forward to playing in his homeland again. “It’s one of my favourite venues,” continued Wright. One of my first games in Glasgow was against Adrian Lewis, and what an atmosphere. It still gives me goosebumps now.''

''It’s an amazing feeling playing in front of your home crowd. We all miss Gary [Anderson] playing in the Premier League, so all the pressure is on me to win for Scotland, but I believe I can do it. I think when I’m in the moment, the atmosphere will make me play better and hopefully I can find something special.''
