Players Championship 28 Results, Last 64: Van Gerwen, Cross and Anderson all knocked out in second round

Van Gerwen was facing Alan Norris who hasn't been in the best form this year but he produced when it mattered against Mighty Mike edging him out with a clutch 90 checkout to break and win 6-4.

Cross was defeated by a player who has been going under the radar at times in his first season back on the PDC ProTour and that is Conan Whitehead. 'Voltage' averaged just under 90 like the first round but 'The Barbarian' produced the goods to win 6-4.

Anderson was looking to set up a third round tie with David Evans - who is in good form having confirmed a seeded spot at the BDO World Championship later this year. 'Stretch' defied a 104 average from 'The Flying Scotsman' to win 6-3.

Two massive performances from winners though were seen by Jose de Sousa who smashed Stephen Burton with a 107 average to continue his brilliance and Glen Durrant who hit a 112 average in whitewashing Cristo Reyes.
