Players Championship Order of Merit Update: Cameron Menzies takes lead after title triumph, Michael van Gerwen and Luke Littler languish

Cameron Menzies is the surprising new leader on the Players Championship Order of Merit. The Scot won his third final of the season on Tuesday, but also managed to win a title for the first time this season.

In winning Players Championship 11, Menzies also collected the top prize of 15,000 pounds. He passed such top players as Chris Dobey, Gian van Veen and Gerwyn Price and is now even the leader on the floor ranking with £45,000.

Price follows in second place with 38,500 pounds, while Gian van Veen is number three in the standings with 38,000. Chris Dobey and Gary Anderson complete the current top five.

Menzies won 8-3 over Peter Wright in the final of Players Championship 11 on Tuesday. 'Snakebite' moved up to seventeenth place on the Players Championship Order of Merit as a result of his final place finish.

Of the Premier League stars, many of them languish further down in the Order of Merit. 26th and 27th is where we find Stephen Bunting and Luke Littler. Luke Humphries is in 21st so a lot higher. But for many they have skipped tournaments so likely will rise further.

Michael van Gerwen in particular will need to as he currently sits down in 102. The top 64 in this Order of Merit go on to qualify for Minehead and the Players Championship Finals. So it is both a good barometer for who dominates the floor tournaments but also acts as a qualifying tool.
