Players Championship Order of Merit Update: Joe Cullen ascends to second as Van Gerwen adds first money

The Players Championship Order of Merit has been updated once more with Joe Cullen winning the latest title and making moves.
Albeit the Order of Merit is still led by Chris Dobey, who earned £28,000 at the Players Championship tournaments in 2025. Cullen is the new number two after 'The Rockstar' took the title on Tuesday.
In the final of Players Championship 5, Cullen won 8-7 over Gian van Veen, who missed six match darts to win his first PDC title. Van Veen is now in sixth place. Ryan Searle, Gerwyn Price and Rob Cross mark the completion of the top five. Luke Littler sits down in 10th of the immediate big names.
Speaking of, Michael van Gerwen grabbed his first money for the Players Championship Order of Merit on Tuesday. At Players Championship 5, 'Mighty Mike' played only his second floor tournament of the season after skipping three tournaments and losing once in the first round.
Van Gerwen managed to reach the quarter-finals in Leicester, earning 3,500 pounds for the rankings. With a 55th spot, Van Gerwen is one place below Peter Wright and one place above Gary Anderson.
The Players Championship series continues Wednesday with its sixth tournament, where once again important prize money is at stake. Playing Players Championship tournaments is the only route for players to grant themselves entry to the Players Championship Finals. At the end of the season, the 64 best players get to compete in the final tournament in Minehead.
