Schedule Friday night at European Darts Championship including Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries and defending champion Ross Smith

Friday night sees the first round completed at the European Championship Darts with eight more matches set to be completed.

In the first match of the evening, Gian van Veen will make his debut at this tournament. The European Darts Championship is the first in a series of tournaments where Van Veen will make his debut, as he also crowned his debut year on the Pro Tour with participations in the Grand Slam of Darts, Players Championship Finals and the World Darts Championship later this Autumn. His participation in the tournament in Dortmund begins with a meeting against Damon Heta, the number six seed.

Midway through the evening, Dirk van Duijvenbode will face off against James Wade in the first round. Later in the evening, four-time European Championship winner Michael van Gerwen faces Madars Razma.

Defending champion Ross Smith will battle Ricardo Pietreczko, who recently managed to shock with a Euro Tour title in Hildesheim. Luke Humphries, one of the title favorites, will square off against Brendan Dolan.

Krzysztof Ratajski will take on Joe Cullen in the first round, while a Northern Ireland clash with Daryl Gurney awaits Josh Rock. Jonny Clayton will battle Jose de Sousa for a spot in the last 16.

Where to watch the European Darts Championship?

This week's European Championship will be broadcast live by ITV with ITV3 showing the coverage on Friday and Saturday and the rest on ITV4. The 2023 European Darts Championship begins on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m.. On this evening, the first eight matches from the first round will be played. A day later, the remaining eight matches from the first round are scheduled.

Saturday the second round will be completed, divided into an afternoon session and an evening session. The quarterfinals are on Sunday afternoon, followed by the semifinals and finals in the evening.

How much prize money is up for grabs at the European Darts Championship?

The PDC has provided £500,000 in prize money for this event. All 32 participants are guaranteed a £6,000 starting premium.

With a win in the first round, the proceeds rise to £10,000. This eventually rises further to £120,000 in prize money for the winner of the European Darts Championship.
