Poland produce record pairs average at World Cup of Darts with sensational 118.1 in Lithuania win as Sweden and Latvia also through

In a tournament which has provided at times a superb standard, nothing has yet been bettered than Poland who produced a record average in the World Cup of Darts on Friday night.

Facing Lithuania who won earlier today with Krzysztof Kciuk and Krzysztof Ratajski prevailing last night against the now eliminated, Portugal, it was a jaw dropping 118.10 effort from the duo.

A real statement of intent from the pair who last night did not produce their best despite getting the first win on the board.

But now head through as the team that the seeds will not want to draw. As part of the record, it was two 180's, 66.7% on the doubles with a high checkout of 103 to win it in a 4-1 victory.

To start the tie, Poland doubled their lead and went half way to the finish with Ratajski breaking on double 16.

Kciuk missed the bull for the win at 3-0 and Labanauskas last dart in hand pinned double 20 to keep them in it for the moment.

But with a 103 checkout from Kciuk, he spared his previous blushes and sealed the record.

This smashes the previous record of Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld which has stood since 2014.

Sweden seal Last 16 spot, joined by Latvia

This slightly overshadowed a thrilling win for Sweden's Oskar Lukasiak and Dennis Nilsson who saw off Italy's dynamic duo of Michele Turetta and Massimo Dante to reach the Last 16.

Dante pounced on a bust from Nilsson to hang on in at 1-1 in the early going. A 78 checkout saw Nilsson battle after poor doubling to lead 3-2 in the end and go one away from the win.

But Dante produced a 76 checkout to hold and send the tie all the way at 3-3. Turetta left Dante double 20 for the win but Lukasiak hit 103 on double 12 to find a way to win.

They were joined by a fellow Nordic and Baltic nation in Latvia with Madars Razma and Dmitry Zhukov pushed hard by Bahrain but in the end, it was a 4-2 win.

Zhukov held throw to make it 2-1 for Latvia who needed just one more leg from there to qualify. Razma sealed that on double 16.

Mahmood who leaves the tournament with a huge amount of credit missed 120 to prolong it but Zhukov couldn’t seal the win at 3-1 and Yusuf broke to make it 3-2. Razma missed 127 on the bull for the win and Zhukov nestled it in the corner of double eight.
