Gerwyn Price and
Michael van Gerwen will meet each other in the Quarter-Finals of the
European Championship on Sunday afternoon after both won their second round match on Saturday evening.
Price played another strong match at the European Championship in Salzburg, as he averaged 103 to beat Adam Gawlas 10-3. The Welshman came 2-0 down against Gawlas. But with a superb 119 finish, a 12-darter and a 13-darter, Price led already before he went into the break.
The reigning world champion then hit a 13-darter, 80 checkout and a stunning 10-dart leg to increase the lead to 7-3. The world number one finished the job in the 13th leg with a 11-darter.
Four-time tournament winner Van Gerwen easily beat 2018 champion James Wade 10-4 to reach the last eight at the European Championship.
Without playing great, Van Gerwen took a 4-1 lead in the first session. The second session was even better from Van Gerwen, who hit a 13-darter, 125 finish and a 11-darter to move two legs away from victory.
For a moment Wade brought back the tension by a 14-darter and a 142 checkout, as The Machine came back to 8-4. But that was it for the left-hander. Van Gerwen recorded two 15-darters and secured his place in the last eight.
