Gerwyn Price has booked his place in the semi-finals of the
UK Open after claiming a 10-9 win over Devon Petersen.
Price and Petersen produced in a quality tie with the World Number One just edging through with a 100 average and 58% on the doubles. He joins James Wade in the semi-finals.
Petersen produced a superb start to proceedings moving 2-0 up on Price and cementing an early lead.
But Price started to find his range and squared it up at 2-2. He made it three legs on the spin to go 3-2 ahead from there at the first interval.
Petersen held throw for parity on double 18. A poor 58 from Price to leave 123 left the door open for Petersen with 76.
He pinned it to claim a 14-dart break to get his nose in front again at 4-3. A clean double 16 saw Petersen hold throw and go 5-3 up.
At the next interval, he followed up a fifth maximum with a 99 checkout to make it 6-4. Price took out 74 from there to hold throw and after Petersen missed an opportunity at 109.
A 72 checkout on double 20 saw Price get a break back at respond at 6-6. He left double 10 on his own throw as he headed into a 7-6 lead.
Relief was etched on the face of Petersen as he managed to hold from there and he kicked off 180-100 on Price's throw but wasn't able to get a shot at 121.
Price returned as a result for a 70 checkout to move 8-7 up. The holds continued as it went 8-8.
It went all the way to a deciding leg but Price was straight in with a 180 to begin the leg and 140 to leave 81 with Petersen back on 384.
He left 40 from there and pinned it in one to move through to the semi-finals.
