Price halts Van Gerwen in deciding leg thriller, set to face Aspinall after easing past Wade

Gerwyn Price has denied Michael van Gerwen back-to-back titles and has moved into the semi-finals at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy as he aims for a European Tour clean sweep.

Price won at the Hungarian Darts Trophy in Budapest earlier this month and will now have the chance to add this title to his collection as he heads into the European Championship as top seed.

A thrilling contest with 'Mighty Mike' which went the distance and saw 'The Iceman' emerge a 6-5 victor with the averages painting the picture with 103.6 for Price and 105 for Van Gerwen.

Price produced when it mattered in the closely ran affair breaking throw in the final leg to secure his spot in the semi-finals where he will now take on Nathan Aspinall.

'The Asp' eased into the semi-final line-up to continue his quality weekend seeing off James Wade 6-2 with a 99 average, two ton plus checkouts, three 180's and 6/15 on his doubles in a polished display.

The winner will face either Mensur Suljovic or Simon Whitlock later this evening who are next up in the first semi-final.
