Price produces epic comeback win to down Heta and claim Day One title at PDC Super Series 6

Gerwyn Price is the victor on the opening day of PDC Super Series 6 action in Barnsley after seeing off Damon Heta 8-7 in the final of Players Championship 21.

It was a 108 average for 'The Iceman' who collects his 20th PDC title and his first since March and he did it the hard way coming from 6-2 down to win six of the next seven legs claiming it in a decider.

To begin the tie, Heta composed himself after drifting into single one to take the lead early on with a double 16 from an 83 checkout.

He pinned the same target to consolidate and go 2-0 up. A bullseye shot saw Heta claim a double break as he headed towards a potential 4-0 lead.

A 62 checkout consolidated that as he looked to surge away from the World Number One. Heta restored the four leg cushion at 5-1 after Price got himself on the board but 'The Heat' continued to push forward to a 6-2 lead from there, two away from the title.

Price though came roaring back breaking to make it 6-4 with late pressure coming from the World Champion. A 144 checkout saw him go even closer at 6-5 with Heta under pressure to hold and go one away.

He did though after Price missed a dart at double 20 and Heta returned to stop the rot on double 16 to go to the brink.

An 11-darter saw Price apply the pressure once more at 7-6 down with Heta looking to serve it out.

Heta couldn't get down to a finish first and Price was down to 92 with Heta sitting on 62 for the winner. Price hit the treble 20 first time and he sunk double 16 to send it all the way.

Price nailed another 180 and was in pole position leaving 164 and at least six darts at the target. He hit 124 to leave double 20 for the title.
