Price produces prolific display to defeat Cullen in first game as World Champion and World Number One at The Masters

Gerwyn Price marked his first match as World Champion and World Number One with a prolific display to defeat Joe Cullen 10-3 and reach the Quarter-Finals at The Masters.

Price was given his introduction for the first time since achieving that feat at the Alexandra Palace earlier this month and showed there was no rust as he returned with a 104.3 average, five 180's and a high checkout of 132 to set up a mouth watering clash with a resurgent Adrian Lewis next up.

Price started well in his first assignment as World Champion and like alluded to pinned a brilliant 132 checkout to move 2-1 up. He went into the interval 3-2 up with a 101.2 average and emerged with a break of throw in the form of a 92 checkout to make it 4-2.

His dominance continued from there with three consecutive 11-darters seeing 'The Iceman' pumped up and 7-2 in front.

Cullen stopped the rot with an 85 checkout to reduce the arrears to 7-3 as they headed into the interval but it was very much Price seemingly heading towards the finishing line.

This was shown as he finished 60 to go within a leg of the finishing line at 9-3 up with his average up at 106.6 with five 180's.

He concluded it from there pinning double 10 to sweep Cullen aside and put his potential Premier League hopes in doubt.
