Price recovers to deny Williams in all-Welsh clash, Schindler produces late rally to seal Van Trijp win

Gerwyn Price and Martin Schindler are the latest players through to the Last 16 at the German Darts Open in Jena after victories over Lewy Williams and Danny van Trijp respectively.

Price began his all-Welsh tie with Williams by producing a 110 checkout followed by an 87 checkout on the bull but after a 10-darter from Williams and holding at 3-1, 'The Prince of Wales' found his form smashing in a 142 checkout to make it 3-3 before taking the lead at 4-3 up suddenly.

But after missing 120 on double 20, Price capitalised at 5-4 to break and go one away and this proved vital as 'The Iceman' sealed the deal and survived a scare.

While in front of his home crowd, Schindler did what his compatriots failed to do this weekend and that is to delight the home crowd after early defeats for Gabriel Clemens and Lukas Wenig.

He produced a late surge to deny talented Dutchman, Danny van Trijp 6-3 with an 88 average, a highest checkout of 92 and 46.2% on the doubles.

This late surge saw them locked in at 3-3 before Schindler capitalised on a missed 120 checkout to go 4-3 up and breaking again to win it on double 13 after a timely 180.
