Price through opening hurdle at UK Open with victory over Hudson

Gerwyn Price has navigated his first hurdle at this year's UK Open successfully with a 10-5 victory over 'The Rock' Peter Hudson on the Main Stage.

Price had to pull out of the final two days of the Super Series due to an ongoing ear infection and despite not being 100% still, 'The Iceman' proved too good for Hudson and is into the hat for the Last 32.

Price began the tie with a blockbuster 140 checkout but barring that, he struggled in the opening stages.

Despite that, Hudson could not mount a challenge of his own to trouble 'The Iceman' and Price went 3-2 up at the interval.

Price returned though and smashed in a 156 checkout to head 5-2 up and followed that up by making it a commanding 7-3 lead at the next interval.

Holds of throw followed and this allowed Price to head 8-4 up and towards the finishing line.

Double 10 was pinned from there for Price to break and go one away at 9-4 up.

Hudson gained a break back but despite missing two match darts, Price was back for double five for the victory after 'The Rock' couldn't muster a shot at 92.
