The PDC
Challenge Tour in 2022 consists of 24 tournaments. Per tournament £10,000 in
prize money will be distributed, so the prize pool for the entire circuit consists of £240,000.
Due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the PDC decided last season to do a separate
Challenge Tour for players from the UK and one for players from continental Europe. This year, the two tours have been merged as usual.
From reaching the last 64, players can earn
prize money, starting at £50. That amount then increases with each round. The winner will receive a nice sum of £2,000.
The
Challenge Tour ranking is based on the
prize money earned. At the end of the season the numbers one and two receive an invitation to the PDC World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2023 and 2024.
There is also another reward for players who do well. The top of the Order of Merit gets a chance to play as a reserve player in the Players Championship tournaments on the PDC Pro Tour. When a Tour Card holder doesn't sign up or cancels, the highest ranked player on the
Challenge Tour Order of Merit can fill in.
