Race to European Championship hots up with only two European Tour tournaments to go before cut-off

Peter Wright has risen to third place on the European Tour Order of Merit after winning the German Darts Open in Jena, with only forerunners Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen ahead of him.
Dimitri van den Bergh after reaching the final is up to seventh after previously being 10th with Nathan Aspinall, Danny Noppert, Dirk van Duijvenbode and Jonny Clayton among those falling down the order after this past weekend after early exits.
Further down, Luke Woodhouse despite good recent form will not play again on the European Tour this season and sits just outside of the spots by £500 so will just miss out.
While Wesley Plaisier will play in Gibraltar in a make or break final tournament as he attempts to qualify with the likes of Boris Krcmar, Simon Whitlock, Jim Williams and finalist in Budapest, William O'Connor also sitting just outside the spots.
At the end of the season, the 32 best players in the final ranking will participate in the European Championship in Dortmund. This tournament is scheduled from 27 to 30 October.
