For Krzysztof Ratajski, this weekend's Poland Darts Masters is a chance for thousands to finally show their support for a Polish sporting hero as he shows what he can do.
'The Polish Eagle' has become one of the best darters in the world in recent years. After his title at the Winmau World Masters in 2017, he made the move to the PDC. More recently, the 46-year-old Ratajski already managed to win nine ranking tournaments.
The Poland Darts Masters on July 7 and 8 is the first PDC event on Polish soil and Ratajski is very proud of that. “I am very happy that we have the first historic PDC tournament in Poland. I think this tournament will have a very positive impact on the development of darts in Poland, and the ticket sales show how much the fans wanted to see such an event live." Ratajski told the PDC in a preview.
On Friday night, Ratajski will take on former world champion Rob Cross in front of what is sure to be a partisan crowd. "I'm very positive about the weekend. The preparations went very well, but I'm expecting a tough match against Rob. I know I will have to play at the highest level to have a chance to win."
The ultimate goal, of course, is to lift the cup on Saturday night. “It would be amazing to lift this title and of course I dream of such an achievement. It will be very difficult because I am playing against the best players in the world, but I also know that it is possible.” Ratajski concluded.
